Nick Calpakdjian and Arlo Enemark are co-producers of Projuice, a video production resource site for content creators. After a successful version 1.0 of the site and a TV series on the ABC, they are looking to launch a new version, backed by a crowdfunding campaign.

Nick is currently working in Dilli, East Timor, on a feature film.

In this interview we talk about the strategy behind the new Projuice, how filmmakers can multi-task to make a living, the changing face of agency funding, why they chose IndieGogo and the emerging media scene in Timor.

Pro Juice is eading into pre-production on the second series and we need your assistance. We've started an IndieGoGo fundraising page to get us going. SYNOPSIS

Pro Juice is back with a second series and is once again kicking studio doors open to bring the best tips, tricks and showcase clips to legions of creative types from the world of digital media.

Hosts Arlo Enemark and Nick Calpakdjian bring their fast-talking, shoot from the hip entertainment onto the screen and they’ve got a bunch of new talented artists lined up to help them along the way. Much more than a how-to show, Pro Juice is a who and why show! They check out the artists behind great music, visual effects, short films and animations to see what makes them tick and how they go about producing their work.

And it doesn’t stop there, Pro Juice features interviews with some of the best audio and video digital artists, behind-the-scenes features on set and in the studio, showcase works from around the globe and the usual rants from the Pro Juice team to inspire viewers into creative action.

A truly multi-platform production, Pro Juice Series 2 has it’s companion website running strong after 3 years online, remix competitions launching every 3 months, a companion soundtrack to be released nationally through Velcro Records online and in-store, extended interviews, online only tutorials, as well as a downloadable digital packs to accompany the series; including projects, audio clips, texture packs and freebies to keep the creative juices flowing.

Throughout 2011 Pro Juice Series 1 screened to almost 100,000 people across iView, Koldcast TV, Blip.TV and through the Pro Juice website.

What We Want Your Money For

Basically we make no money from sponsors or advertisers so we need your help to fund the series.

The first stage of our campaign is for development. We need to research and write the series. We need to recruit a few people to help us and we need to devote our time to the project.

During Stage Two we will campaign for Production costs: $32,000

During Stage Three we will campaign for Post Production costs: $24,000

During Stage Four we will campaign for Marketing costs: $10,000

If we exceed our money raised in our first campaign it will roll over into the next category. Using this model we can campaign and raise the necessary funds to carry out that stage of the web series to the level of standard we are setting.

Timeline

We expect to develop this year with production commencing in January 2013. Post Production will take place in March 2013. If the funding happens quickly we will move the schedule forward as much as we can.

It’s Been A While…

We’ve been hibernating for some time since the successful release of Pro Juice Series One in 2011 on ABC iView and you might have noticed some changes.

The website has had an overhaul and we’ve got some great new content up on the site. There’s a bunch of new tutorials from Series One as well as new interviews, showcase videos and rants.

We’ve been quiet because Nick has been living in East Timor editing the nations first home-grown feature film and Arlo has been busy producing pumping tunes and working with Zelon.

But we’re back… and we’re here to bring you more great media. If you’ve got something you want us to showcase then shoot us through a link. If you’ve got an idea for Series Two then let us know about it. And if you want to be profiled on the show (or know someone worthy) then get in touch.

Congratulations to Matt Cal and The Black Heart Sun for taking out "Best Blues / Roots" song at the 2011 West Australian Music Industry Awards (WAM) for their track "Overdrive."

The West Australian Music Industry Association Inc. (WAM) exists to develop the contemporary music industry in Western Australia. WAM is a non-profit membership based association, and the peak representative body for contemporary music in WA.

Whether solo or with his band, Black Heart Sun, Matt Cal is a WA musician worth checking out. His music comes together to produce sweet, raw, eclectic roots grooves. Painting with folk, hip hop, blues and lyrical imagery, Matt draws on the vast tradition of Australian roots troubadours Blue Shaddy, Xavier Rudd, John Butler &Ash Grunwald along with his international contemporaries to create music that is truly his own.

World Wide Entertainment

Pro Juice are excited to announce that we have just inked a distrbution deal with "World Wide Entertainment" who will handle international television licensing for Pro Juice TV - Series 1.

Producer Nick Calpakdjian met with the Creative Director of WWE and was happy to see that Pro Juice has the possibility of being seen by a wider audience.

"It's great that Pro Juice has aired on ABC iView, Koldcast TV and BlipTV/ This is another oppurtunity for us to get our show out to an even wider audience," says Nick Calpakdjian

Trafficked - The Reckoning

Pro Juice's Nick Calpakdjian recently completed editing the documentary Trafficked - The Reckoning for FairTrade Films. This documentary is a sequel to TRAFFICKED (2005), one of SBS’s highest rating documentaries and the first Australian film about sex trafficking. It told the story of Ning, a 13-year-old Thai girl trafficked to a Sydney brothel in 1995. In this sequel former AFP officer Chris Payne sets out to find who operated the Sydney brothel that enslaved Ning.

The film is set to premiere at Trades Hall in Melbourne, Australia this coming Tuesday 13th September.

Omelette presents: BADA BOOM!

This Saturday, August 20th 2011, Omelette is ecstatic to present an epic night of cutting-edge groove laden electronica from the cream of Melbourne’s pioneering beat smiths.

Saturday 20th August is set to be one of the standout nights to remember on this years beats calendar with a foundation shaking line-up of home-grown headliners plus live theatrical performances, interactive and immersive installation art and eye popping visuals.

This event celebrates the launch of Opiuo’s hotly anticipated new EP; The Squiggle EP that continues to cement the man as a ‘chief of beats’ on the international party circuit.

Also launching on the night is Circuit Bent’s richly glitched funked-up debut release on Omelette Records; Trench Foot, that is sure to turn heads and keep them spinning.

This event will also welcome Spoonbill back to Occaland’s shores after recently demolishing the Canadian summer festival circuit. Expect a body-shaking serve of chunky wonkadelia.

Also featuring on the night are the irresistible grooves of the Mista Savona Sound system, the wild and brilliant sonic morphings of The Mollusk, plus the fresh, funk-fuelled grooves of beats outfit; Damn Moroda.

Where Have We Been?

We've been a little bit scarce in updating the website over the last few weeks but we have some pretty good excuses... we swear!

Arlo has been busy working on some remixes for a new single by The Captains and Nick has been in East Timor filming a motocross event for Australian Television.

Along with that, the team are in pre-production for a 6 episode series to be filmed in February 2010. Our pilot episode has also been selected to screen as part as the inaugaral Pilot Project in Brisbane in November 2009.

Exciting times for everyone involved in Pro Juice and we'll keep you up to date as everything progresses!

Launching a new website

We've been scarce on updating the website lately cause we've been busy building this new one! We hope that you dig it. We've made social interaction easier with Facebook comments and twitter options so you can share the video you like with your mates at the click of a button. We've also uploaded the first 6 episode series via Blip.TV and put it up on the website. The navigation system has had a bit of an overhaul as we've developed more and more videos, tutorials, resources and interviews.

The Basics - "With This Ship" Nominated For Award

The new film clip for The Basics' "With This Ship" from the album "Keep Your Friends Close" has been recently nominated for best music video at the Soundkilda music video festival being held in St Kilda, Melbourne in late May. Hey Juicers, I thought I’d give you a present this week and give away one of my tracks ‘Armageddon Hungry’ from my 2008 Album ‘The Death of Vinyl’. A futurist DnB track, with large trashy drums, mega synth and some monstrous harmonics. It’s a track that uses a handful of the tricks we’ve been over in Pro Juice previously. Obviously, the mad sliced up beats from ‘Breakbeat Kitchen’ and there’s some mega amped up synth like in ‘Faking Guitar’. I hope you enjoy the track and If you like my sound you can check out my other music on iTunes, Beatport, trackitdown etc.

'Stop' Remix Competition - Winner Announced

We'd like to thank all the amazing entries to our remix comp. We were absolutely blown away by the standard. We had remixes come from the USA, UK, Australia, Hungry, Moldova, Brazil, NZ, Turkey, Germany and all over the world. Except, Antarctica, damn snobby Antarcticans, think they're too disco good, to enter our remix comp! We'll show them!

The variety and quality of the remixes were truly inspiring. Some of the remixes were really imaginative and cool, but the remix that best fit out judging criteria was from Hungry: The 'Tony Palmer Remix'.

Tony's mix was simply precision. He had no trouble finding his groove with the song, yet he managed to maintain the urgency of the vocal. Most importantly it's a killer club track and is going to sound awesome, on LARGE PA systems!

Hey guys Pro Juice TV, Smile on Impact and Dont Doo Dat are stoked to announce that we are holding a remix comp for Smile on Impact’s next single ‘Stop!’ It’s a catchy vocal track with a mega riff. The last Smile on Impact single ‘Wisdom Teeth’ received massive support from DJs. It spent 10 weeks in the ARIA Club Charts and peaked at number 26. Arlo’s looking to beat that effort this time and as result, the release will be promoted to some of the biggest DJs in Australia and overseas.

It will be a platform for Arlo and others to rant on about a specific topic and hopefully dispel some myths and dispense some useful information. There's a couple up there already to do with sampling and mastering.
